An audio recording of Hillary Clinton appearing to mock millennials and the entire Bernie Sanders movement, has gone viral. In the brief recording captured during the primary, Clinton balks at embracing the liberal ideals which propelled Sanders to become a leader for legions young voters.
“And on the other side, there’s just a deep desire to believe that we can have free college, free healthcare, that what we’ve done hasn’t gone far enough, and that we just need to, you know, go as far as, you know, Scandinavia, whatever that means, and half the people don’t know what that means, but it’s something that they deeply feel,” Hillary Clinton is heard saying in the recording.
Making blanket statements about specific groups of Americans and mocking supporters of her opponent has not boded well for Clinton in the recent past. Her “basket of deplorables” comment about Donald Trump’s supporters ignited a firestorm on social media and may have turned off some independent voters and helped to solidify the Republican base around the GOP candidate.

The former Secretary of State also described a significant portion of Bernie Sanders’ supporters as being “children of the Great Recession” who may feel doomed to having a career as a “barista” and are still “living in their parents’ basement,” BizPacReview reports.
Clinton’s campaign has struggled to attract young voters. Millennials came out passionately and in droves for President Barack Obama and the Vermont Senator.
Hillary Clinton, who has described herself as a progressive in the 2016 campaign for the White House, has dubbed her views as moderate or “in the center” in the past.
During the recorded audio, Clinton said she wants to be planted firmly in the space “from the center-left to the center-right” on the political spectrum. The former First Lady went on to note that those Americans who possess views either to her left or her right, simply “bewilder” her.
After making statements which appear to marginalize the views of millennial voters and liberals, Hillary Clinton went on to say she does not want to be a “wet blanket on idealism.”
“Some are new to politics completely. They feel they got their education and the jobs that are available to them are not at all what they envisioned for themselves. And they don’t see much of a future,” Clinton added.
Secretary Clinton noted that to a voter who feels like there are no avenues of opportunity available to them and think they might be trapped in a low-paying job forever, “the idea that maybe, just maybe, you could be part of a political revolution is pretty appealing.”

In the same February recording, the Democrat went on to chastise GOP voters for their views as well.
“There is a strain of, on the one hand, the kind of populist, nationalist, xenophobic, discriminatory kind of approach that we hear too much of from the Republican candidates,” Hillary Clinton said.
Bernie Sanders has not yet commented on the statements made by Hillary Clinton about the progressive views of the millions of liberal and millennial voters who supported the movement he led throughout the primary.
According to a report by the Free Beacon , the Hillary Clinton audio clip was leaked by computer hackers who were able to garner access to the email account of a campaign staffer. The fundraiser where Clinton made the comments about millennials and Bernie Sanders was hosted at the Virginia home of former United States Ambassador Beatrice Welters.
