To celebrate the release of the latest Halo game in the venerable series, Microsoft is giving away an almost-free premium theme for your Xbox 360’s dashboard, based entirely upon Halo 3: ODST . That’s nice of them. For a Halo fan, I suppose it’s always pleasant to be reminded of Halo 3: ODST when you’re not playing Halo 3: ODST .
Like most of these dashboard themes, this drowns your screen with appropriate images and art from the respective game. In this case, the cuddly Xbox Avatars of your friends are surrounded by all sorts of nasty Halo enemies, like Grunts, or Elites, or That One With The Big Glowing Stick That I Can’t Be Bothered To Look Up On Wikipedia. From Microsoft’s press release:
“Available only for a limited time and free of charge for Xbox LIVE Gold Subscribers, this expertly crafted Halo 3: ODST Premium Theme will get your Xbox 360 ready for a combat drop into the city of New Mombasa.”
Okay, so it’s not exactly free. To be more precise, it’s free to people who pay fifty bucks a year for Xbox Live Gold membership. So, NOT FREE AT ALL. But whatever, it’s nice-looking, so get downloading before this disappears for good!
