Hailey Baldwin Claims It’s ‘Hard’ To Date Justin Bieber After Selena Gomez Instagram Posts

Hailey Baldwin is opening up about her relationship with Justin Bieber, but she doesn’t want to get attention for doing so.

While appearing on one of Marie Claire’s five May covers in honor of the magazine’s “Fresh Faces” issue, Hailey Baldwin spoke of her on-again-off-again love interest, with whom she appears to be currently “off.”

“I don’t want attention out of dating somebody. Texts started coming through, crazy phone calls…it’s hard to date somebody in this industry,” Hailey Baldwin explained to Marie Claire, via a report by E! News on April 11. “You have to have really thick skin and be very strong. You have to focus on the person and nothing else.”

Hailey Baldwin and Bieber had been friends for months before going public with what appeared to be a committed relationship in December 2015. At the time, the pair had traveled to Anguilla to celebrate the holidays with Bieber’s family. During their vacation, Hailey Baldwin posed for several romantic photos with Bieber, one of which featured the two of them sharing a New Year’s Eve kiss.

Then, one month later, Hailey Baldwin denied being in a committed relationship with Bieber.

“We are not an exclusive couple. He’s about to go on tour,” Hailey Baldwin told E! News in early February after attending a Super Bowl event with Bieber. “Relationships at this age are already complicated, but I don’t really like to talk about it because it’s between me and him.”

Then, in March, Hailey Baldwin was confirmed to be “totally single.”

As she chatted with Marie Claire, Hailey Baldwin admitted that she has a tendency to let things slide, but she didn’t confirm whether or not she was talking about Bieber’s frequent outings with other women or his recent social media post to ex-girlfriend Selena Gomez.

“I’m the type of person where I let things slide. I push it to the side. And then finally explode every so often, but by myself,” Hailey Baldwin admitted to the magazine. “I’ve been in situations with friends [when] someone will have said something that really hurt my feelings, so I sit there choking tears back.”

In March, just a short time after celebrating his 22nd birthday with Hailey Baldwin, Bieber took to Instagram, where he posted an old photograph of him and Gomez kissing along with the caption, “Feels.” Days later, he “liked” an Instagram photo of Gomez in which she was seen sitting at a piano while wearing a bikini. Bieber and Gomez were also reunited at one of his Los Angeles concerts in March.

As for where Bieber stands with Gomez, she was apparently upset about a secret rendezvous between him and Hailey Baldwin, which was said to have taken place after the iHeartRadio Music Awards, which both Bieber and Gomez attended.

“Selena has no interest whatsoever in going to any more of Justin’s concerts, even if he’s going to be performing in Houston this weekend,” a source told Hollywood Life on April 8. “He needs to apologize to her for what he pulled at the iHeartRadio Music Awards. She’s trying her best to take Taylor [Swift]’s advice and just call it quits for good. She really wants to stay focused on feeling good and not get entangled with all the drama that always unfolds whenever she gets involved with Justin.”
