Gwyneth Paltrow Apologizes to PETA

Gwyneth Paltrow is feeling guilty about wearing fur in a recent Tod’s ad (and maybe is a little scared of PETA) and recently apologized to the group’s senior VP Dan Mathews at Miami Beach’s Fontainebleau. Good things she cleared that up, just in case there were any Lindsay Lohan-esque situations being planned this winter.

Mathews told Us mag that “Paltrow graciously said: ‘That was awkward, and I’m glad you asked, because I do not wear fur at all. It was a daylong photo shoot on a boat near Capri, and there were all sorts of poses with all kinds of clothes – none with fur,’ she added. ‘During one set-up, a stylist came up from behind and draped a stole around my shoulder.’

‘I didn’t pay much attention to it, and when I noticed it was fur, I assumed it was fake fur, but did not ask, so it’s my fault. I was very surprised when they ended up using that one shot out of hundreds for the centerpiece of the Tod’s ads.’”

Is this a good enough excuse? Kate Winslet ended up in a similar situation recently when she was caught leaning on a fur rug for Vanity Fair– that she thought was faux but wasn’t .

Is it better to just stick to a strict “no fur” policy to avoid mix-ups (and run-ins with PETA)?
