A Gossip Girl spinoff series in being planned via a test episode later this year.
In a tight market though, The CW won’t be creating a traditional pilot, and is instead planning to use a usual Gossip Girls episode as a quasi-pilot to test audience reaction.
Sources at Variety note that the spinoff would not be based on “The It Girl,” the spinoff series to the “Gossip Girl” book series the television series is based on.
The spinoff would likely center on one of the show’s nine regular characters.
