Father’s Day is Sunday June 17 and in celebration of that day Google has released a new Google Doodle that reminds dads to kick up their feet and allow coffee to be delivered by a robot as they read the newspaper.

Watch the entire Google Doodle all the way through and you’ll quickly realize that the robot is being controlled by the hidden letter E.

Father’s day is traditionally held on the third Sunday in June and was created in 1910 by the American Sonora Dodd. It is believed that Dodd created the special day to honor her single-parent father and civil war veteran William Jackson Smart. Father’s Day started just two years after the first Mother’s Day in 1908.

According to history, Father’s day was originally setup for William Start’s June 5 birthday but was pushed back to all the family’s pastor to prepare a sermon.

62 years later in 1972 President Richard Nixon signed the day into law.

Interesting fact about Father’s Day, it is the busiest day of the year for “reverse charge” or “collect” calls as kids call their dads free of charge, you can learn more by clicking on the Google Doodle.

While Father’s Day is a recognized holiday consumers spend $5.9 billion less on Father’s Day than they do on Mother’s Day.

More than 60 countries around the world have chosen the third Sunday in June to celebrate parents although most countries have their own names for the special day.
