If you’re burned out and disappointed with fast food, now you can reminisce about the good old days. That’s exactly what Jimmy Fallon did last night. He went into deep thought and conjured up a Kenan & Kel Good Burger reunion.
Once again, funny man Fallon gave his viewers a slice of comedy heaven. Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell put on their old duds and gave surprised audience members a blast from the past. Kel strolled out and the studio crowd went nuts. With the phrase, “Welcome to good burger, home of the good burger. Can I take your order?” History was made. The Good Burger reunion that fans had wished for was under way.
Kel reprised his role as spaced-out cashier Ed. Kenan wore a construction hat and relived his Lester Oaks character. The comedy was deliciously wild.
Kel’s voice was obviously much deeper than when the skit was aired in the 90s. But it took nothing away from the giddy reaction of the crowd. A Good Burger reunion is about fun and laughter, not scrutiny. The crowd was treated to almost 10 minutes of Good Burger goofiness. The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon staff had created another winner.
The classic Nickelodeon All That sketch was alive again. The popularity of the Good Burger sketch was so great; it inspired its own movie. After working together on their own comedy show and the Good Burger film, Kenan and Kel parted ways. There was public opinion that there was a beef between the two actors. In an interview last year, Mitchell ensured The Huffington Post that things were fine between them. He wasn’t sure of a reunion of any sort.
“I haven’t talked to Kenan in a while, so I don’t know if that would be any type of collaboration. I know the fans want it, but I don’t know. You know, I think that I’m working on different things; he’s working on different things. And I know everyone likes the ‘Kenan & Kel’ brand, but I don’t know. We’ll have to see. It’s kind of like the movies with ‘Dumb and Dumber.’ Everybody wanted to see that again when it came back, so I don’t know. We’ll have to see what the future may hold.”
The Good Burger reunion with Jimmy Fallon was proof that the two still have their comedy timing and magic. There seemed to be no hard feelings between them. But Hollywood is magical and they are actors.
