Parade time is here for Golden State Warriors. Winners of the 2015 NBA Finals, the Warriors get a parade that will take place in Oakland. Details about the parade have already been confirmed by ABC News on Thursday (June 18), with a report letting fans know where to catch a glimpse of Stephen Curry and his teammates. It’s been 40 years since the franchise was able to celebrate in this fashion, so new fans will be seeing what a championship parade looks like for the first time.
The parade for the Warriors will take place on Friday, June 19, at 10 a.m. PT. As explained by ABC News , “The route will take the team from Broadway and 11th streets through Uptown Oakland to Lake Merritt, ending with a rally at the Kaiser Convention Center.” It is also being advertised that fans can begin lining up for the event at 5 a.m. PT at Lakeshore and 12th Street.
That starting time of 5 a.m. may seem early to some people looking to stake out spots, but not for fans that have been starved for playoff success for many years. After beginning across from the Warriors’ practice facility, the parade will make a right onto Grand Avenue. Many fans are expected to be gathered alongside Lake Merritt to watch the procession take place.
As previously reported on the Inquisitr , this Golden State Warriors parade is a result of the team beating the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2015 NBA Finals. The team needed just six games to get it done, with the decisive victory coming in Cleveland. It meant that many Warriors fans haven’t been able to celebrate the championship properly, but that will all change on Friday morning. Oakland is going to be a sea of midnight blue, international orange, and gold as Stephen Curry leads his troops through the streets.
The Golden State Warriors parade will be the last major NBA event until the draft takes place on June 25. After finishing with the best record in the NBA, the Warriors will have the No. 30 selection in the first round. It is expected that the team will look for another shooter to add to the bench. The Warriors don’t have a selection in the second round after a prior trade, but that doesn’t mean a transaction or two won’t take place before them. As the team looks to deal David Lee, it’s possible that they could acquire a pick in that trade.
With most of the current roster already under contract for several seasons to come, the biggest offseason task for the Warriors will be to ensure Draymond Green doesn’t get away in free agency. With that much talent still on the roster, another Golden State Warriors parade could easily take place in 2016. A re-match with the Cleveland Cavaliers might be possible as well.
