Outages sure do seem to come in ways for Gmail: The Google mail service has confirmed it is dealing with another bout of problems this week.
The latest outage, reported by the BBC , is (as usual) said to affect a “small subset of users.” Google gave the BBC its standard Gmail downtime statement:
“We’re aware of a problem with Gmail affecting a small subset of users. The affected users are having difficulty accessing their accounts. The team is working as quickly as they can to resolve the problem. We know how important e-mail is to our users, so we take issues like this very seriously.”
Gmail was down for a few hours late in February . Google engineers followed that incident by releasing a new App Status Dashboard to help users monitor the status of Gmail and other Google services.
February’s outage was Gmail’s sixth documented downtime in the past eight months. Overall, though, Google reports that Gmail has an average uptime rate of 99.9 percent , despite the highly publicized nature of its occasional issues.
