Two weeks after becoming parents, Giuliana and Bill Rancic are releasing the first pictures of their son Edward Duke, E! Online reports . The photos will appear in the latest issue of Life & Style magazine.
After years of trying to get pregnant without any luck, the proud couple’s new addition was born August 29 . The couple had previously undergone several unsuccessful rounds of IVF treatments, one of which ended in a miscarriage, before deciding to use a surrogate. The Rancics said they were “blessed beyond words.”
“I couldn’t believe that all those years of struggling and the tears actually paid off,” the first-time mom said . “Every shot, every doctor’s visit — in the end, when you’re holding your baby in your arms, you forget it all, and it’s worth it.” In addition to the IVF treatments, Giuliana underwent a double lumpectomy last year after suffering from breast cancer.
The baby boy’s regal name was inspired by the couple’s fathers. Giuliana said, “Edward is Bill’s late dad’s name and my dad’s name. It was a way to honor them. And Duke means leader.”
Bill told the magazine, “[He’s] got Giuliana’s dimples! It’s amazing how maternal instincts have taken over, and Giuliana’s just supermom.”
The couple celebrated their fifth wedding anniversary in Chicago just two days after their son was born. The two married on September 1, 2007 in Capri, Italy.
Giuliana Rancic is taking a break from E! News and Fashion Police to spend time with Edward Duke. However, she will be hosting Live From the Red Carpet on September 23.
