Gisele Bundchen was the center of attention at the 2016 Rio Olympics opening ceremony. Now, the retired runway model has been getting slammed for her walk.

According to a new report via the Telegraph , the Brazilian model walked out too slowly during the 2016 Rio opening ceremony. It forced the directors to cut out the segment that was originally planned to show in full during the televised ceremony. Now, the details about that headline-making segment have emerged.

The show’s creative director, Fernando Meirelles, said that Giselle’s slow walk across the 400ft. runway in the Maracana stadium had to be cut. Her walk was originally meant to only be a short homage to Tom Jobim, the composer of “The Girl From Ipanema,” but she took too long to walk across the runway.

“Gisele Bundchen made a mistake,” he said in a new interview on Brazil Radio’s Gaucha. “We agreed a speed and she walked a bit slower. I think she was excited. She was slower, the song was over and there was not time for her to do the scene.”

He also added that Bundchen’s rehearsals were “terrible.” She admitted in various interviews that she was nervous before the show, which was attended by thousands and watched by millions across the globe. Bundchen’s walk led to an 1,850 percent increase in Google searches for her name in just one hour, according to the search engine.

“Gisele literally just walked across the stadium and it was an event,” Richard Lawson, writer of Vanity Fair , wrote.

But, she doesn’t care if you didn’t like her walk. While some fans thought that Bundchen’s walk was a terrific nod to Rio, others thought it brought too much attention onto the model, as noted by Yahoo Style . Some even remarked that they felt like they were watching a fashion show rather than an Olympic event.

But Gisele, who has become the face of internet memes after she was seen dancing away in the grandstands, hit back at her haters on social media.

“It was very exciting to be part of this special moment. Everyone involved worked with dedication and passion to create a show that gave the world a glimpse of our history and Brazil’s essence. It was beautifully presented. Our Brazilian community is hard working, cheerful, and welcoming. I believe that we showed the world the beauty of our diversity. #gratitude #riocidademaravilhosa #rio2016,” she wrote on Instagram.

Even her husband, Tom Brady, congratulated his wife on his Facebook page . She even got the seal of approval from IMG Models.

“Congratulations Brazil on the incredible opening ceremony of the Olympic Games! Gisele, words can’t describe how proud I was to watch you represent your country. I love you.”

Now, let’s focus on Bundchen’s gorgeous gown. The 36-year-old stepped out in a sparkling slinky dress that featured a high slit and long train. Bundchen even had to make sure not to trip down the catwalk in her towering silver metallic stilettos. This was her first big walk after retiring from the runway last year, according to the Irish Examiner , so she had to wear a killer gown.

Gisele’s dress is actually gold, not silver, according to a report via Vogue . It was created by Brazilian designer Alexandre Herchcovitch, who exclusively spoke to the fashion publication. He revealed that it took him four months to create the awe-inspiring dress and what it was like to work with the supermodel.

“Gisele knows exactly what looks good on her and what doesn’t, which makes the job much more objective and accurate. She was always present in the process. She gave important opinions, and we thought about the parts together. She made some important changes. Part of my creative process and development is to listen and adjust creations so she is satisfied.”
