Oscar-nominated actor Gary Oldman is officially back on the market. A Los Angeles Superior Court Judge finalized his divorce from his fourth wife after six years of marriage on Tuesday, and the paperwork was publicly released on Thursday.
USA Today reports that the versatile actor has agreed to pay singer Alexandra Edenborough $3.3 million. The former couple will divide numerous assets, with Oldman keeping two homes and several vehicles.
Gary and Alexandra were married back in 2008 on New Year’s Eve. She filed for divorce a little over a week after the couple’s sixth wedding anniversary, citing the usual “irreconcilable differences” as the reason. Before marrying Alexandra, Gary had already been married (and divorced) three times.
Oldman was previously married to actress Lesley Manville, with whom he shares a son. They divorced in 1989. Uma Thurman was next to say “I do!” to Gary in 1990. She was barely legal when they married, and he was in his early 30s. They divorced in 1992. He dated actress Isabella Rossellini from 1994 until 1996, and they were engaged but never made it down the aisle. After their breakup, Oldman married Donya Fiorentino in 1997. The couple had two sons before getting divorced in 2001.
As the Inquisitr previously reported , Oldman’s spokesman confirmed that his client separated from Alexandra a year prior to her divorce filing. Shortly after she filed back in January, Oldman released a statement referencing the state of their relationship.
“Alex and I had several great years together, and we shared a great love during that time; but there is a big difference in our ages and ultimately that gap inevitably revealed different lifestyle interests. While I have been sad about this for over a year, I am grateful for the good times we did have, and we remain friends. Of course I wish Alex the best happiness in the future.”
Fifty-seven-year-old Oldman has cemented his place as a British stage and screen legend. Known for his diverse acting portfolio, as well as for being one of the most versatile actors currently working, Gary’s screen domination began with roles in movies like Sid and Nancy , Bram Stoker’s Dracula , JFK , State of Grace , and True Romance . His role in the 2011 hit Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy earned him nominations for the Best Actor award at the Oscars as well as a BAFTA. He also starred in the Harry Potter films as Sirius Black.
Gary struggled with alcoholism and sought treatment at the Marworth treatment facility in 1993. Today, the actor attributes his success in beating the addiction to Alcoholics Anonymous. Harry Potter co-star Daniel Radcliffe had his own battle with alcoholism, of which he revealed talking to Gary about as his problem worsened.
“I did talk to him about it once. I didn’t say I had a problem — because I didn’t think I did at that point — but I told him I shared that mentality he had for actively seeking out chaos,” Daniel told Shortlist . “He just said ‘You can’t keep doing this. You’ve got too much to lose.’ And that really went in. But not even he could have stopped me alone — I had to stop myself. And stopping has shown me a world of happiness that I didn’t think was possible.”
Gary Oldman is currently in New Mexico filming the sci-fi movie The Space Between Us , a love story about “the first human born on Mars who is secretly raised in an experimental colony after his astronaut mother dies during childbirth. Sixteen years later, he begins an online romance with a girl living in Colorado and hatches a plan to travel across the universe to meet her.” Filming wraps in November with a slated 2016 release.
