UPDATE : Gary Oldman’s spokesman confirmed that Mr. Oldman separated from wife, Alexandra Edenborough, over a year ago, and that they have agreed to an amicable divorce. The couple remain on warm, friendly terms.
Oldman released a statement through an official spokesman referencing the current state of his relationship with Alexandra.
“Alex and I had several great years together, and we shared a great love during that time; but there is a big difference in our ages and ultimately that gap inevitably revealed different lifestyle interests. While I have been sad about this for over a year, I am grateful for the good times we did have, and we remain friends. Of course I wish Alex the best happiness in the future.”
Radar Online reported on Monday that the Oscar-nominated actor and his wife, Alexandra Edenborough, are getting divorced .
The 36-year-old wife of the 56-year-old Paranoid actor filed for divorce on January 9 in Los Angeles. Edenborough cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the divorce filing.
Within the court documents, Gary Oldman is being asked by his estranged wife to pay spousal support in addition to her legal expenses. In addition, Alexandra made the request for her future former husband to not receive any form of spousal support.
Gary Oldman and Alexandra Edenborough were married back in 2008 on New Year’s Eve. Therefore, the English actress and singer filed for divorce from Oldman one week and two days after the couple’s sixth wedding anniversary.
This is definitely not the first time that Gary Oldman has been faced with divorce papers. Before marrying Alexandra, Gary had already been married (and divorced) three times. Oldman was married to actress Lesley Manville (1987-89), actress Uma Thurman (1990-92), and Donya Fiorentino (1997-2001).
In a February 2014 interview with the Independent , Gary Oldman reportedly hoped that his fourth marriage would be the one that lasted.
“Practice makes perfect. Isn’t that what they say? I’m not proud that this is my fourth marriage. But this is a good one. Hopefully, my last one.”
According to Douglas Urbanski , Gary’s longtime manager, Gary and Alexandra first met in late 2007 when she worked as a waitress at a place that he visited often.
Urbanski states that he jokingly told Gary Oldman that Alex would be the “next Mrs. Oldman” – which came true the following year.
Perhaps Gary Oldman will find love again in the future and consider getting married again. What do you think?
