The body of Robert Hight’s Funny Car flew into the stands this weekend at the Charlotte Motor Speedway.

According to Sports Illustrated, the incident came during a qualifying session. There was an explosion in the engine of Hight’s car which caused the carbon fiber body to launch into the air. The Funny Car body flew into the stands where several people were watching the race.

Yahoo Sports reports that no one was injured. Two people were taken to the medical center to be examined at the track as a precaution but they were quickly released.

The NHRA said in a statement: “Robert Hight’s Ford Mustang suffered an engine explosion during 2nd round Funny Car qualifying. The carbon fiber body blew off the chassis & landed in a walkway in front of the east side grandstands. Two spectators were evaluated by paramedics as a precautionary measure and released onsite.”

After the Funny Car was cleared from the stands the races continued at the Charlotte Motor Speedway. Rookie driver Chad Head ended up taking the no.1 position in qualifying with a run of 4.014 seconds at 315.19 mph.
