Fantasy Football Team Names: Top 10 Television Inspired Team Names For 2016

From the archive: published Aug 31, 2016, 10 years ago. Details may have changed since.

After spending countless hours of research on this project, I’ve finally picked out the 10 very best fantasy football team names to share with you all. So, without further adieu, here are the 10 best fantasy football team names that have been inspired by a television show.

10. Mr. Rodgers’ Neighborhood

This one’s simple, yet solid. Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood was at one point one of the best shows for children back in the day. It also works because Aaron Rodgers is one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL when playing at home. Rodgers has compiled a 50-13 record at Lambeau Field in 63 home starts.

9. Jamaal Charles In Charge

If you’ve never seen the 1980s sitcom starring Scott Baio, then you owe it yourself to find all five seasons and watch every episode. The Kansas City Chiefs will also need Jamaal Charles to be in charge if they’re going to win the AFC West in 2016.

8. Backfields And McCoys

Although better known for the movie by the same title, the miniseries, called Hatfields And McCoys, had a 14-episode run on the History Channel back in 2012, and even featured Kevin Costner and Bill Paxton. It’s also a clever name for Buffalo Bills’ running back LeSean McCoy, who happens to line up in the backfield as a running back.

7. Teenage Newton Ninja Bortles

If you weren’t a fan of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, I’m not sure we can be friends. The show dominated my childhood, and it sounds even better when you put the names of two of the top young quarterbacks in the NFL in the title.

6. The Boldin The Beautiful

This one’s for all of the soap opera fans out there. It’s amazing how well Anquan Boldin’s name fits. Boldin, on the other hand, couldn’t be anything further from a soap opera. The receiver is one of the toughest guys in the league and one of the best leaders. He will be looking to help the Detroit Lions return to the playoffs in 2016 after a one-year hiatus.

5. The Walking Dez

This is an oldie, but a goodie. The Walking Dead will return for Season 7 in October of this year which is right in the heart of football season. That means Dez Bryant should be in the midst of a year where he will be catching passes from rookie Dak Prescott instead of veteran Tony Romo.

4. Dak To The Future

Obviously, the Back To The Future movies are the most popular, but there was a cartoon based off of the movies that made it two seasons. The show ended in 1992. Dak Prescott will be leading the most popular franchise in the NFL into the future after the back injury to Tony Romo.

3. Fuller House

Another one of my favorite shows growing up was Full House, and the sequel on Netflix has brought a serious nostalgia factor for me. Will Fuller will be trying to take some of the defensive attention away from DeAndre Hopkins as the rookie tries to help the Houston Texans win their second straight AFC South title.

2. Geno 911!

Admittedly, Reno 911! wasn’t my cup of tea as the humor was a bit too dumb and simplistic for me. That doesn’t mean that this fantasy football team name isn’t amazing. On the contrary, the Jets probably will be calling 911 if Geno Smith ever has to start another game for the team.

1. Manning Hands

Seinfeld is the greatest sitcom of all time which is the reason this beauty tops the list. If you’re not familiar with the show, Jerry dates a gorgeous woman in an episode, but discovers she has “man hands.” He’s instantly turned off, but his buddy George needs a picture of “Man Hands” to get into a popular club in a meat-packing warehouse. Please, if you haven’t seen it, go watch it. Now.
