A new name has been added to late sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein’s long list of high-profile connections. Former labor minister and U.K. ambassador to the U.S., Peter Mandelson, has been arrested for acting as an advisor to Epstein.
The ex-minister reportedly supplied the disgraced financier with sensitive government information.
He was arrested on Monday, February 23, on suspicion of misconduct in a public office. However, he is currently out on bail and awaits further investigation.
Mandelson’s friendship with the convicted sex offender was an open secret around the time he was appointed as the U.K.’s ambassador to the U.S. A letter written by Mandelson to Epstein as part of a book compilation for Epstein’s 50th birthday in 2003 has been released by lawmakers.
In the said letter, the former minister can be seen addressing Epstein, who was already a convicted criminal at the time, as his “best pal.”
Peter Mandelson is not a “respected” politician.
He was forced to resign twice due to corruption.

In September 2025, Mandelson was removed from his position as U.S. ambassador after new information about the intensity of his friendship with Epstein had been discovered.
As the Department of Justice (DOJ) released almost three million pages of the Epstein files in January 2026, Mandelson was embroiled in a new controversy.
It has been noted that Epstein made $75,000 (£55,000) in payments to several accounts connected to the former ambassador between 2003 and 2004. Not only that – Mandelson’s partner, Reinaldo Avila da Silva, received £10,000 in 2009 from the late financier to pursue an osteopathy course.
Mandelson, however, denied receiving any payment. He insisted that he had no recollection of receiving money from Epstein and cast doubt upon the authenticity of the documents.

Following the severe allegations, Mandelson resigned from his position at the Labor Party in February 2026. He reportedly did not want to “cause further embarrassment” over his links to the criminal.
However, fresh allegations kept surfacing. In the emails released by the DOJ, Mandelson was caught forwarding market-sensitive government information to Epstein in 2009.
At the time, he was appointed as the business secretary in Prime Minister Gordon Brown’s government.
In one of the emails, he notifies Epstein of a €500 billion bailout from the European Union (EU) to save the euro, while in another, he discusses imposing a one-time tax on bankers’ bonuses.
The police soon launched an investigation and arrested him at his London home.
Following U.K. guidelines, his identity was hidden. Investigators confirmed they have arrested a 72-year-old male on suspicion of misconduct and taken him in for interrogation.
