Evan Peters and Emma Roberts have broken up, but no one is sure when it happened. Evan, 28, and Emma, 24 have been together since 2012. They met during the filming of Adult World, and Evan and Emma began dating that summer. Peters popped the question over the Christmas holidays in 2013, and Emma was soon showing off Evan’s choice of a pink gold and diamond ring.
Peters and Roberts kept a low profile for the first few months of their relationship, but about a year after they started dating, that changed. The couple hit the headlines when the news broke that that they were hitting each other.
The abuse story broke in the summer of 2013, when Emma and Evan were staying at a hotel in Montreal, Canada. Someone heard sounds of a fight coming from the couple’s room, and called the police. When police arrived, they found Evan with a bloody nose. According to one law enforcement source there was evidence of bite marks on Peters . Emma was immediately arrested on charges of domestic violence, but was released several hours later because Evan wouldn’t press charges.
A few days later, after TMZ broke the news of the arrest, a “visibly upset” Peters and Roberts were spotted in New Orleans sharing “an emotional embrace.”

The couple didn’t break up over the fight. They got even cozier. Shortly afterwards, Emma, who is Julia Roberts’ niece and Eric Roberts’ daughter, joined Evan in the cast of American Horror Story . A few months later, they got engaged and that big diamond ring appeared on Emma’s finger.

But Emma was spotted as long ago as February without the engagement ring.

Some fans had already been saying for months that Emma and Evan had broken up, and weren’t surprised at the news.

According to People , a source close to the couple said they recognized that they weren’t grown up enough for a marriage commitment.
“They grew apart. They both had a lot of growing to do and it was better that they do it on their own.”
Their careers are certainly growing. Evan Peters is busy with X-Men: Apocalypse , and will begin shooting American Horror Story: Hotel shortly; and Roberts just finished shooting Nerve with Dave Franco. Emma is also creating a lot of buzz as part of the cast of Ryan Murphy’s new Fox Series Scream Queens , that premieres this fall. Emma Roberts’ fans are super excited about Scream Queens .
