-The WWE Universe has a lot to say about Eva Marie and her position in WWE. It’s a common belief that the worst thing that can happen to a WWE Superstar is coming out to hear no reaction. Eva Marie doesn’t have that problem. Instead, she has to deal with being universally hated by the WWE audience, which isn’t a bad thing per say. That’s still a great way to make money in this business. It just has to be made a specific way.
There is no question that Eva Marie is money to WWE, and a lot of people criticize her in-ring skills, her on-screen persona on WWE television or “Total Divas, ” but success in this industry is measured by the strength of crowd reactions and drawing power. She has both of those things when a lot of other women the fans love don’t. It’s unlikely the dynamic between Eva and the WWE Universe is going to change anytime soon.
However, her career has taken her off WWE programming as of late, which should make the WWE Universe happy for the time being. Eva Marie hasn’t been featured or mentioned on WWE television since August. It has been a long time, which has made a lot of fans wonder where she has gone. She hasn’t been on WWE TV since violating the WWE Wellness Policy, but she’s been keeping herself busy over the past few months.
Instead of being in the squared circle, Eva Marie has been on film sets making movies since August. She had a role in a new movie alongside Nicolas Cage called “Inconceivable,” which is a huge opportunity for her. It could lead to more high-profile movie roles, so she’s trying to strike while the iron is hot and immediately went onto another film set in Vancouver to film another movie for WWE Studios called “Action #1.”
She’s been busy getting some film credits added to her resume and the latest filming period will keep her off WWE television until the end of November. The belief is she’s also been dealing with some nagging injuries, so she’ll be missing WWE Survivor Series too. Since SmackDown will have WWE TLC in early December, the creative plans for the Women’s Championship will be to continue the Alexa Bliss and Becky Lynch feud.
With Eva Marie’s shooting schedule filled up until December and Bliss vs. Lynch covering SmackDown, the expectation is that the former won’t be returning to WWE programming until after WWE TLC . After that, it is very likely that Eva Marie will receive a strong push on SmackDown, which will make her the top heel in the women’s division and put her on a collision course with Becky Lynch headed into WWE Royal Rumble.
Originally, the belief was Eva Marie was going to become the first SmackDown Women’s Champion when the title was established a few months ago. Her suspension and film schedule allowed Becky Lynch to have that honor, so Lynch vs. Marie was always meant to be for SmackDown. The former couldn’t be happier to work with Eva Marie because she revealed awhile back exactly how she feels about competing with Eva:
“Eva Marie is so hard-working. Yes, she is new. She gets so much flack from fans for being this gorgeous woman who, apparently, they say can’t wrestle, but she puts in the hard work. I love working with talent like that. It’s a challenge for me, but I feel it’s a great spot for me to be in because I can be a leader.”
The WWE Universe may not agree with Eva Marie getting a title shot after being absent for four months, but the crowd adores Becky Lynch and strongly dislikes Eva, which is a perfect dynamic for a great feud. WWE will want to push Eva and her filmography over the next several months, so this will be a good opportunity to make them happy, get more exposure for the company, and give the WWE Universe a great feud.
