What is better than roaming the Fallout 4 wasteland? Roaming the Fallout 4 wasteland with a handy Do-it-yourself (DIY) out-of-game Pip-Boy device.

Even before Fallout 4 released in November, it was one of the most anticipated games of the year, pushing tons of Fallout 4 merchandise out to the market. One of the most-demanded Fallout 4 products that came to life was the real life Pip-Boy, a companion device that will work well when playing Fallout 4 on your console. And as good as this commodity sounds for die-hard Fallout 4 fans out there, it also ran out pretty fast from the Bethesda online store days into its announcement.

The “super” limited edition Pip-boy device that was available on the Bethesda online store reads the following.

“This wearable device faithfully replicates the in-game model and comes complete with RobCo Industries stand, custom-printed capsule, adjustable foam cuff, rotating knobs and lights. Designed to accommodate a variety of smartphone devices* with customizable foam inserts, the Pip-Boy is the ultimate accessory for the official Pip-Boy companion mobile app that allows players to manage their in-game inventory, perks, holotapes, and more.”

This means that the limited edition Pip-Boy from Bethesda is actually an In Real Life (IRL) Pip-Boy that you can use when playing Fallout 4. By putting your smartphone which has the Fallout 4 companion app onto the Pip-Boy, you will be able to use the Pip-Boy the same way use a Pip-Boy in game. Pretty cool, right? This is the reason, of course, why it ran out fast.

Knowing Fallout 4fans, it was bound to happen. This is why a lot of people took matters into their own hands and made their own Pip-Boys for their Fallout 4use. The amazing thing, though, is that we found two people who actually succeeded in creating their own Fallout 4Pip-Boys that housed their smartphones really well and fit their arms really good–and the catch is, they used Lego to build their Pip-Boys.

A Lego fanatic and avid Fallout 4 gamer, Simon Liu was able to make a legendary PIP-Boy 3000 based on the real Pip-boy 3000 from the Fallout series. Po Wilsting the final product on his Flickr page, Simon was able to create a futuristic and Star Wars- worthy Pip-Boy using Lego blocks and pieces.

Moving forward, another Lego and Fallout 4 fan, Dave Love, did his own version of the Pip-boy, too. Based on the Pip-Boy 3000 Mark IV model in Fallout 4, Dave Love’s Fallout 4 Pip-Boy is a little more rustic than Liu’s and took quite a couple of redoing before arriving at the final product he posted on Instagram. Talking to CNet , Love shares that he was able to unearth an old box of Legos from his childhood recently and that pushed him to try making his own Fallout 4 Pip-Boy, since no one else is selling theirs for a decent price anytime soon. He adds that it took him about 10-12 hours before he was finally happy with his work.

A couple of people did recognize Love’s work and someone already reached out to him via Instagram, where he posted the picture, asking for a DIY tutorial in making the Fallout 4Pip-Boy. His responseis the following.

“#Fallout4 #Lego #pipboy 3000 MKlV that I built. I almost have more hours into this than the actual game! As of right now, Instagram is all I have.. But whenever I get around to it, I’ll be posting the link on here!”

Fallout 4 continues to stay on gaming charts and more DLCs are reported to be on the way.
