This just in: Elin Nordegren and Chris Cline are done — kaput. One year after Tiger Woods’ ex-wife and her billionaire boyfriend began dating, they split and have gone their separate ways.
The breakup was not all that surprising, according to those who knew the couple. Things began well for Nordegren and Cline, but matters went downhill rather quickly once reality hit about the struggles of living apart and having fast-paced lifestyles.
Elin, 34, and Cline, 54 grew fond of one another and went on a series of dates before going public with their relationship. However, the source said that time and distance did them in.
Chris, worth some $1.4 billion, spent a lot of time away from their homes and it seems Elin couldn’t deal with how deeply he was devoted to his business matters. And despite Nordegren and Cline living as neighbors in two stately homes, it wasn’t enough to salvage their relationship and ward off a split.
According Page Six , Tiger’s ex didn’t appear to be damaged goods after ending the romance with her boyfriend. In fact, Elin fled to the Hamptons for a getaway — which isn’t a bad thing — after waking up single again. She was seen in Bridgehampton walking with two girlfriends, dining at restaurants, and shopping along the way.
As far as Elin Nordegren and Tiger Woods’ relationship is faring since their divorce became official in 2010, the Swedish beauty painted somewhat of a rosy picture.
“I have moved on and I am in a good place… My relationship with Tiger is centered around our children and we are doing really good — we really are — and I am so happy that is the case. He is a great father,” she told People in an interview months ago.
In fact, Nordegren appears to have developed a cordial relationship with Tiger’s new love, American World Cup alpine ski racer Lindsey Vonn. At one point when the pair began dating, some insiders spread rumors that Elin hated Woods’ gal pal. On the contrary, one source close to Elin and Tiger debunked those rumors, and suggested it couldn’t be any further from the truth.
“They can be a happy foursome now that Elin has a guy even richer than Tiger,” said the source, who added that both women admit to having similarities, and have become something akin to BFFs. Imagined that?
In the general scheme of things, this bodes well for Woods and Nordegren’s children; they share custody of daughter Sam, 6, and son Charlie, 5. Not only had the couple’s relationship turned violent after Tiger’s cheating scandal surfaced, but the children were caught up in the public and stressful divorce proceedings.
