Ed Sheeran was recently included in People magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive issue.
In case you haven’t heard, the British singer-songwriter has experienced something of a banner year. Not only did the guy tour with fellow musician and best friend Taylor Swift , he also managed to score a Grammy nomination. However, Sheeran said it was his inclusion in the People magazine issue that impressed his father.
“To be included in the Sexiest Man Alive issue of People magazine is… interesting. Thank you for that. That’s very kind. My dad’s very proud,” the musician recently explained to the publication .
He continued, “My dad told me when I was eleven years old that you haven’t made it until you’ve played Madison Square Garden. I had a bit of a breakdown with him asking if I was good enough yet. I didn’t really, but that would have been funny.”
Considering Ed Sheeran recently played three sold-out shows at Madison Square Garden, it’s safe to say that the singer has officially arrived. If it takes being named as one of the sexiest men on the entire planet to impress his dad, then he has that covered as well.
So how long does it take Sheeran to make himself presentable to his legion of adoring fans? According to the musician, he really doesn’t spend that much time in front of a mirror.
“Getting ready is quite a quick process. I put on a suit… or not. I will put on a jumper, sometimes. I get voted worst dressed a lot, so I don’t really put in that much effort anymore,” Sheeran said during his interview with People .
One person who thinks the acclaimed British musician is the bee’s knees is songstress Taylor Swift. Since the two are really good friends, the American Music Award-winning singer said touring with the guy is simply a blast .
“It’s been amazing, he’s on tour with me in the US. I think for both of us being on tour together and being really close friends, it’s the most fun experience you could ever have,” Swift told Capital FM earlier this year.
She added, “Everybody’s always really close on a tour, but if you start out and you’re already close, it just makes it less like work, having your friends out there. Especially the fact that he was coming out for this… he didn’t have to fly out here just to join me for one song.”
