Dragon Age II joins the ever-growing list of EA titles pulled from Steam

Over the past month, EA and Valve have been seemingly going at it behind the scenes, with a number of EA titles being pulled from Steam, and EA’s confirmation that Battlefield 3 won’t be coming to Steam . Well, it looks like the drama between EA and Valve isn’t quite over yet.

Destructoid noticed that, just in time for the launch of Dragon Age II ‘s Legacy DLC, Dragon Age II has been pulled from Steam. As was the case with all other titles removed, this comes completely out of the blue, with no announcements from either party explaining why it happened.

According to Destructoid’s sources, the disappearance of Dragon Age II from Steam may have something to do with the fact that the Legacy DLC is available by way of in-game store. This apparently violates Steam’s terms and, as a result, the title was pulled from the service entirely.

Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait until EA or Valve comes out and explains the situation to know for sure what the cause was, if either party even decides to do that much.

I’ve already voiced my opinion on the matter in the Battlefield 3 on Steam post, but I’d like to hear what you think, reader. Whose fault does this situation lie on? Is Origin setting up to compete against Steam a good thing? Alternatively, what do you think about digital retailer-exclusive titles? Let us know in the comments!
