Donald Trump Wants Everyone To Speak English In America, Jeb Bush Says No Way

Jeb Bush spoke out on Thursday against Donald Trump’s suggestion that everyone should speak English. Trump chastised the Republican presidential candidate for speaking Spanish during his campaign trail, but Bush fired back, stating that he would speak Spanish wherever and whenever he feels like it.

The Huffington Post reports that bilingual Bush frequently speaks Spanish, which apparently irritated Trump, who recently stated that “he should really set the example by speaking English while in the United States.”

Bush, however, feels that while people should learn English, it doesn’t mean they should stop speaking their native language.

“Taking this to the logical conclusion, I guess, no more French classes for public schools? German, no we can’t have that. You can only speak English. I mean English is the language of our country and people that come to this country need to learn English. That doesn’t mean they should stop speaking their native tongue.”

Bush also touched on Trump’s insults to him, teasing him for “speaking Mexican.”

“I think this is pretty bizarre to be honest with you. And it sends a pretty ugly signal to people that somehow we’re creating a different standard for one group against the other.”

It doesn’t seem like the battle between Bush and Trump will stop anytime soon. The two Republican presidential candidates have been at odds for months, and Bush is determined not to back down to Trump’s jibes at him. In addition to asking Bush to speak English, Trump also called Bush a “low-energy” candidate. Yet, the former Florida Governor indicated that he will not take Trump’s jabs lying down. He is willing to fight back, he said, especially if Trump insults his family.

“I’m going to push back when he says things that are ugly, that I think will damage our brand, damage our ability to be successful. I’m sure as hell — when he attacks me personally or disparages my family — you’re damn right I’m going to fight back.”

Trump recently responded to the situation, stating that he thinks his opponent will take out negative ads on him, but the real estate mogul signed a pledge on Thursday to support any GOP nominee no matter what. With his feud with Bush, it’s surprising to many people that Donald Trump vows to support Bush if he wins, but in the usual Trump fashion, the 69-year-old said he’s confident that he will be the only one who comes out as the victor.
