Does Lil Wayne ‘Got Money,’ Or Does American Express Lawsuit Highlight Health And Wealth Issues?

It would be nice if Lil Wayne was in the news for reasons other than lawsuits and alleged lean abuse. Two new lawsuits were announced today: one by a Hyde nightclub bouncer for assault, and the other by American Express for the sum of $86,396.75, the amount due on a delinquent bill going all the way back to December 2015.

American Express is suing for the full amount plus any additional fees associated with pursuing monies owed. According to Global Grind , the same day American Express filed their lawsuit, a Los Angeles bouncer filed a lawsuit as well, claiming Lil Wayne punched him in the face while he was working the door at Hyde nightclub during the BET Awards afterparty. According to the bouncer’s attorney Arsineh Aghakhani, Wayne and his entourage were upset over being searched at the very afterparty the rapper was hosting and attacked him. Weezy allegedly came from behind and punched the bouncer in the face, then his crew pushed him against the wall, resulting in a dislocated jaw and a shoulder injury.

Lil Wayne admits to a brief altercation but denies coldcocking the unnamed bouncer for simply doing his job before allowing them to enter the festivities. The plaintiff reported the incident to the Los Angeles Police Department while being treated in the emergency room, but Wayne alleges the same bouncer worked the VIP section at the afterparty, so his injuries — if any — were minimal, according to TMZ .

Shouldn’t we be worried that Dwayne Michael Carter, Jr., is going down physically and financially at this point? Wouldn’t a man who has been a millionaire since he was a teen and, according to The Richest , is reportedly worth $150 million have enough money to pay American Express or better yet hire someone to pay his bills for him? Samsung undoubtedly paid him in excess of the American Express bill when he was hired to hawk Samsung products with antics such as pouring high-end champagne on Samsung Galaxy 7 phones. Does he really “Got Money” or is his health standing in the way of his wealth?

False Alarm! I appreciate da prayers and konsern but I’m good!!! Luv!!!!

Last week, Inquisitr reported that the talented rapper had yet another epileptic seizure — the third in less than a month. These seizures have caused his private plane to make emergency plane landings so that he can be admitted to the ICU, which disappointed fans because of last-minute canceled performances. Lil Wayne has recently been seen with his double-cup — typically before, during, and after performances and appearances — so naturally, the speculation is that he has relapsed and is sipping Sizzurp again.

Despite his insistence that the latest seizure was a “False alarm” and he’s fine, he’s obviously not. The chattering over whether he has relapsed is based on his actions and not his assurances. He has been glued to his trademark double-cup, he is experiencing frequent epileptic seizures, and he is being sued for violence and non-payment of bills. Shouldn’t there be more concern over the physical toll his recent and frequent seizures are having on this talented, insightful, and brilliant lyricist? The effects are visible; he does not look well.

It would be nice if Lil Wayne was in the news more for his generosity and mentoring efforts such as his recent signing of 18-year-old sports phenom Terrance Ferguson to his Young Money Sports agency, as reported by TMZ . His memoir, Gone ‘Til November , is due in October, and it would be nice if he were still around to bask in its success. If Lil Wayne joins the ranks of other celebrities who have succumbed to addiction, then we will be left with Kanye. We can’t have that.

Do you think that we are witnessing the slow decline of a lyrical genius? Sound off in the comment section.
