The dev team for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided answered some questions from the fans via Reddit AMA . As reported on PlayStation Lifestyle, Patrick Fortier (Gameplay Director), Olivier Proulx (Producer), and Fleur Marty (Live Team Producer) mentioned their plans to release downloadable contents as well as talked about the initial reviews posted about the game, improvements on gameplay and more.

According to the team, there are narrative DLCs planned for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided . No details about the DLCs were mentioned in the Reddit post yet, but fans can expect to learn more about the game’s new contents “at a later time.”

Early reviews published for the stealth-action game are positive. Take for instance M3’s assessment for Mankind Divided as cited by MetaCritic saying that it offers “truckloads of the great gaming experience already seen in the previous installments and polishes it into near-perfection.” It also added that gamers need to be ready “to delve into a thrilling story with lots of possible consequences and outcomes.”

Although the critics are telling how great the game is, one Reddit user cited that a significant criticism for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is its “mediocre story.” Talking about the reviews published for the Eidos Montreal’s action RPG, the dev team shared as follows.

“A lot of reviews from around the world came in today and we want to take the time to look at everything closely — there’s a lot to digest! We’re also very interested in knowing what you guys all think about the game. Appreciation of the story is down to a lot of factors and quite personal, especially since we want players to express themselves through Jensen and the choices they make throughout the game. And the time you’ll invest in side-quests is also something to factor in!”

The upcoming game features the return of Adam Jensen , the mechanically augmented super-agent “forced to operate in a world that has grown to despise his kind,” as described on the Mankind Divided’s product page on Steam. “Armed with a new arsenal of state-of-the-art weapons and augmentations, he must choose the right approach, along with who to trust, in order to unravel a vast worldwide conspiracy,” it added.

Mankind Divided is the sequel to the 2011 Deus Ex: Human Revolution. It is set in 2029, years after the events of Human Revolution as well as the “infamous ‘Aug Incident’ in Panchaea that resulted in the deaths of millions at the hands of those who had installed augmentations,” Metacritic noted.

As mentioned above, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is set for release on the current generations of Microsoft and Sony consoles, the Xbox One and PS4, respectively. As a reflection of the favorable reviews released for the game, Metacritic’s current Metascore for the Xbox One version is 82/100 while it is 84/100 for the PS4.

Aside from Xbox One and PS4 owners, PC gamers will also be able to enjoy the latest installment to the Deus Ex franchise commencing Tuesday. But unfortunately, it will not have support yet for the DirectX 12 , contradicting the initial plan. Eidos Interactive originally announced that Deus Ex: Mankind Divided on PC would support DX12 at launch, as reported by GameSpot . But as recently announced on Steam, there are still “some extra work and optimizations to do for the DX12” and they “need more time to ensure we deliver a compelling experience.” As for the new release schedule of the DX12 support, the Deus Ex: Mankind Divided team is expecting that it will be out on the week of September 5.
