‘Destiny’: Xur’s Exotic Goods For December 4, Telesto And Skyburners Annex On Sale
From the archive: published Dec 4, 2015, 10 years ago. Details may have changed since.
Destiny players will want to avoid hunting for Xûr in the Tower this week. The Agent of the Nine and his Exotic goods have absconded to the Reef this weekend, a first since the launch of The Taken King. PlayStation and Xbox owners do get the chance to grab one of the more fun Fusion Rifles in Year Two along with a new Hunter helmet, though.
This week’s hiding spot for Xûr is in the Reef social area. You’ll want to turn right from the spawn point, head down the stairs past the Bounty vendor, and then go in the first door to the right of the bottom of the stairs. The Agent of the Nine is tucked away in a corner on the right.
Xûr and his items will only be available in Destiny through the morning of Sunday, December 6. As soon as the clock strikes 5 a.m. ET / 2 a.m. PT, he will be gone.
Update: The door to get to Xûr may be closed when you enter the Reef. If it is return to orbit and then return to the Reef. Bungie posted on Twitter that it is aware of the issue and is “working on a solution.”
We’re working on a solution to get Xur to open those doors. Please stay tuned! https://t.co/kB1ECJPkEE

The Telesto is the big draw for Xûr’s Exotic goods this weekend. It is one of the more unique weapons in the game that can be extremely useful against large mobs of small minions or even some of the larger ones.
The armor this week features Year Two pieces for the Warlock and the Hunter, with the latter being sold by Xûr for the first time. Hunters who love to generate orbs will want to pay attention to the Skyburners Annex.

Telesto
The exploding-purple-goo-shooting Fusion Rifle is available to pick up and is well worth the price. A sticky residue is left behind once each shot explodes after a short delay, which is perfect large groups of low level minions such as Thrall. It’s also powerful enough to quickly bring down a Minotaur’s shield and then the Minotaur.
Destiny players will also enjoy the bonus Telesto perk of generating Orbs of Light each time the weapon kills two or more enemies with a single shot.
Ruin Wings
The split stat of 41 Discipline and 40 Strength may call for a reroll using the Glass Needles.
Skyburners Annex
The optional perks are “Ashes to Asset” for extra Super energy from grenade kills and “Heavy Lifting” for extra Super energy from Heavy Weapon kills. There is also the “Invigoration” perk for bonus melee energy on Orb pickup.
The 48 Intellect/48 Strength is solid for the Skyburners Annex. Destiny players will only need to use Glass Needles if they are unhappy with the perk bonuses.
THE STAG
The optional perks on The Stag are a choice between the “Ashes to Assets” for bonus Super energy from grenade kills and “Heavy Lifting” for bonus Super energy from heavy weapon kills on minions. There is also “Better Already” regenerates shields immediately on orb pickup.
Like the other two pieces, the 50 Discipline/46 Strength stat split on this helmet is decently strong. Players may want to use Glass Needles to re-roll the perks to something like “Inverse Shadow.”
