Xbox One players can now create their own DC Comics hero or villain in DC Universe Online. The game is now free to download and play on the console with six iconic mentors, 14 power sets, 11 weapon options, hundreds of styles, 23 Episodes, and much more. Although previously released in 2011 on PC and later launched on the PlayStation 4 the day the console debuted, this is the first time Daybreak Games’ superhero MMORPG is available on any Xbox console. Xbox One players can pick up the free-to-play game right now and start saving or dooming the world today.
The Xbox One DC Universe Online servers opened up on April 29 according to the game’s website. As long as an Xbox One owner has Xbox Live Gold, he or she can download nearly 35 Gb and play the game for free. DC Universe Online supports an in-game store in addition to an optional subscription as a way to support the game’s free-to-play model. The Xbox One client is no different and launched with all content currently available on other platforms. The developer hopes to keep all versions of the game on the same update scheduled, too.

The optional DC Universe Online Membership, the subscription, is available through the Xbox One dashboard. Players can also purchase Marketplace Cash which is used at the in-game Marketplace to buy various items. For instance, players can pick up new costume pieces, Replay Badges, powers, base items, and much more with Marketplace Cash. The game’s episodes, or content additions, will need to be purchased from the Xbox One dash with real money. Check out all of the DLC for DC Universe Online on the Xbox One website.
A Membership to DC Universe Online includes access to all of the game’s DLC as well as a number of other benefits. Members can also use all of the power sets in the game, they receive a 10 percent Marketplace discount, and they are granted a monthly 500 Marketplace Cash stipend for every month they are subscribed. All of the benefits of a DC Universe Online Membership can be viewed on the game’s website.
Like DC Universe Online on other platforms, free members must wait in a queue if the server is populated before entering. Making one purchase of Marketplace Cash, buying a bundle, or character slot will flag the purchaser as a Premium Member. Premium Members get placed in a different, quicker queue. Players with a subscription are placed in an even higher priority queue if the server is overloaded from which they will enter the game before either a Premium or free player. According to the update to the Frequently Asked Questions section of the official site, the Daybreak Games team is looking to add more capacity to the Xbox One server.
