Dad Punishes 10-Year-Old Daughter For Lying About Her Age, Shares It On Facebook

Kevin Jones was appalled to learn about some of the things his daughter has been bragging about. According to Yahoo! News, the 10-year-old girl has reportedly created several social media accounts on different platforms. But, of course, she didn’t reveal her real age. She also claimed to be dating an older boy. Needless to say, her father was furious about her deceitful actions. So he decided to teach her a lesson.
Jones had a shirt airbrushed in pink and black with a bold display of her age and grade level. The front of the shirt reads, “I’m 10 Years Old,” and the back says, “5th Grader.” But that’s not all! He even took things a step further by donning her hair in pink barrettes and balls. He also included a Disney-influenced backpack with an image of the cartoon character, Sofia the First! Since she’s a fan of social media, he opted to share her new and exaggerated age-appropriate look on Facebook!
He posted pictures of his daughter with her new shirt and adolescent hairstyle. He also included a lengthy explanation for the pictures and his actions.
Here’s what he had to say.
“Since my beautiful daughter Janiya wants to be grown & lie about her age. Saying she is 14,15,16,&18 years old. She claims to be in love and going out with a boyfriend which is completely against my rules!!!! I uncovered that she has been doing this for quite some time. She also has snuck and obtained social media accounts, also against my rules!!!! Heres the consequences behind her actions. An age defining shirt. Yes people she is 5’9 & 10years old.”
Although he was only trying to prove a point to his daughter, he’s caught the attention of an overwhelming number of users — more than 260,000 to be exact. In addition to the staggering number of views, the post has been shared more than 80,000 times and has over 3,000 comments. Thousands have supported his parental efforts but, of course, some people aren’t in agreement with his method.
“She knows her dad lives her. Its not time for a pity party people evidently he has shown her his soft side and she took advantage of that. Its just discipline time. She know why he doing it these kids are not dumb,” user Alandria Smith commented.
“You did the wrong thing an whatever boys she lied to im sure you set them straight. Its amazing to see real Men doing the right thing and not encouraging the behavior awesome job,” J. Lynn Kidd said in support of Jones’ disciplinary actions.
Another viewer shared a different perspective, deeming Jones’ actions “humiliating.”
“I definitely don’t think the father’s intentions were bad, but whether he meant to or not he publicly humiliated this girl at an age where anything that happens to her is going to end up being very formative. And I think being shamed in front of all of the internet is a pretty big deal to a young girl’s self esteem. That’s something she’s going to remember forever,” Yolandi Visser said.
