During weddings, one of the few roles that exclusively belong to the father, besides giving away his daughter to her husband-to-be, happens after the ceremony. Usually at the after-wedding celebration, the father and daughter partake in a traditional father/daughter dance. However, one father went beyond the tradition to do something more fitting for his daughter. He presented the best father/daughter dance ever — well according to YouTube.
In a related report by the Inquisitr , another father partook in a unique dance with his daughter though it was not one associated with weddings. In this case, the father and his young daughter switched in-and-out to dance to rap music. Things went awry for the father when his daughter started twerking and doing splits.
According to the YouTube page of Jim Mickunas , his daughter is very unique compared to other daughters since she is very tomboyish. The explanation provided for the video reads as follows.
“My daughter has always found her own path. She played Flag football at 6. She hated wearing dresses. She wore a tuxedo to her first communion. She lettered in Soccer and Track. She then became an Engineer for the largest automaker in the world when she was 22.”
Apparently, Jim Mickunas’ daughter loves sports. Therefore, Jim wanted to incorporate that into the father/daughter dance of his daughter’s after-marriage party.
“I could not imagine having a traditional father daughter dance with her. That is not what we were or are…So I came up with this. – She had no idea!”
As shown from the video above, Jim Mickunas started out with a traditional father/daughter dance but it transitioned into a game of catch with a baseball and gloves. To complete the “dance,” the disc jockey played “Centerfield” by John Fogerty.
The video of the “father/daughter dance” was uploaded on May 21, 2015, and has garnered more than 1.3 million views, enough to become the 12th most popular video on #PopularOnYouTube list. However, the votes are close to 50/50 as about 1,600 people like the video but 1,200 people do not. Despite what others may think, what mattered is that Jim Mickunas and his daughter shared a moment they will always remember.
