Trigger Warning: This article contains references to the alleged s*xual abuse of a child that some readers may find distressing.
Judge Boyd delivered a well-deserved sentence to a man who molested his 4-year-old niece. Warren had entered the courtroom hoping for probation and a lenient release. His attorney and family prepared lengthy speeches and letters portraying him as a loving and merciful man. However, the prosecutor exposed Warren’s unspeakable acts against the child.
She stated, “Zachary spat on his genitals and rubbed them against hers. How does a four-year-old even know about something like that? This was a four-year-old who couldn’t even swim, whose only reason for being alone with her was because she had a broken floaty.”
Meanwhile, he denied the allegation and said he was being framed. The judge asked the victim’s mother how the incident still impacted her family. She revealed they are waiting for the answer from the court.
A licensed professional counselor with the state of Texas weighed in on the case and how she had been helping Zach. She revealed she was using cognitive behavior therapy and EMDR to treat trauma and rewire Zach’s brain.
However, she had never worked with s– offenders earlier and could not perform a risk assessment when it came to patients like him. She said, “You see someone who has been painted as a monster in a minister’s society. On the day of ultimate judgment, he’ll stand before God, and God knows all of him. So, it’s unfair for someone who should be taxed with judging him with such a life-altering sentence to not know a little bit more about him.”
Then she proceeded to read a long letter explaining how being born premature impacted Zach and that he had mental health issues. When it was time for Zach’s mom, Shirley Joe Blair’s, testimony, she came prepared to get that probation for her son. She told the judge, “My son has endured things that no one should have to endure or be subjected to. There are no winners here today.”
Despite the best efforts of the defendant’s attorney, his own mother’s emotional testimony, and a professional counselor’s opinions, Judge Boyd sentenced Zachary Warren to 12 years in prison. The judge also ordered him to have no contact with the complainant or any minors and fined him $1,500. Furthermore, he won’t be allowed to own weapons or ammunition.
The courtroom video has over 12K views on YouTube. Many viewers were shocked by how the mother supported her son. One wrote, “The pe— ‘s mother completely ignored what her son did to his niece and her granddaughter. There is simply no excuse for s– assaulting a child.” Another noted, “Worst GRANDMOTHER EVER”
Another viewer posted, “What is that creep crying about after all the damage he’s caused?” One more pointed out, “I don’t understand why relatives are even allowed to testify. It’s completely biased!” Another one agreed, “You are right, but in our society, criminals are still protected by their families.”
Praising the judge, a user commented, “God’s work… just wearing a judge’s robe.”
In the court, Zach was portrayed as a victim with ADHD and bipolar disorder. The family testimony asked the judge to see him beyond his crime; however, she was not persuaded and gave him the maximum sentence.
