A video from Madison Square Garden has gone viral, leaving internet users shocked and outraged. The viral video shows a young Knicks fan in the custody of police after a night victory celebration. While the arrested individual seemed to be cooperative with the officials, an officer grabbed his neck and slammed his head into a pole. The incident has left internet users equally enraged and concerned, while the New York Police Department has maintained a stoic silence on the matter so far.

According to a video published by Mr Check Point, an NYPD cop can be seen slamming a young Knicks fan’s face into a police car during an arrest as thousands of fans celebrated the Knicks’ impressive Game 2 victory over the San Antonio Spurs. The suspect was handcuffed with assistance from multiple officers and a captain as onlookers booed the arrest scene following the NBA Finals Game 2 win.

The suspect had his hands behind his back and seemed cooperative, standing calmly. But a Community Affairs officer grabbed his neck and smashed his face into a pole. In a heartbreaking moment, the fan grimaced in pain while the crowd expressed their anger at the cops. A witness can be heard calling out, “What the f***! Yo, what the f***!”

Moments leading to the violent interaction and what happened afterward remain unclear. The NYPD has also maintained silence on the event. Nevertheless, internet users were quite furious with the incident as they targeted the officer for his behavior. A user said, “@nycmayor That cop needs to be investigated. That was clearly done on purpose,” another commented, “Imagine what they do behind closed doors when there is no audience or cameras. Notice that no other cop checked him.”

A third user said, “Every single cop is guilty by association at this point. Every one,” another user noticed, “The girl cop looks directly at the one who did it and then at another cop. Proof she knew that was wrong and shouldn’t have been done.” One more user weighed in, “@nycmayor this is ABUSE his hands are already behind his back in handcuffs, these are the policemen’s that give the whole for a BAD NAME!!!”

According to CBS News, several fans were arrested after the nail-biting match for reportedly blocking traffic and climbing traffic poles. A 29-year-old woman identified as Karley Reyes was charged with assault, resisting arrest, and obstructing government operations after allegedly punching a police officer.

According to the Police Benevolent Association, she reportedly jumped off a barricade into a prohibited area, and when an officer attempted to remove her, she punched the officer in the face and then bit a senior official who intervened. The officer who was punched reportedly suffered injuries, sustained stitches, and is now recuperating.

The report further suggests that the suspect, who doesn’t have a criminal record, was charged on Saturday and released without bail. She is scheduled to appear in court in July.
