Christina and Tarek El Moussa are focused on their kids as they continue to “re-evaluate” their marriage.
According to a statement, Tarek El Moussa and his wife, who announced their separation earlier this week, are dedicated to maintaining a relationship with one another as they continue to co-parent their two children, 6-year-old Taylor Reese and 1-year-old Brayden James.
“We are committed to our kids and being the best parents we can be,” their statement read, according to a report by Entertainment Tonight on December 15. “We will continue to work through this process civilly and cooperatively, and plan to continue our professional life together.”
On social media, Tarek El Moussa recently shared a photo of himself and Taylor Reese and on his joint Facebook account with Christina, he and his estranged wife have remained active with their fans and confirmed that the children had gone to see Santa just one day before their separation was revealed.
In the comments section of his photo with his daughter, Tarek El Moussa was seen confronting a fan who suggested his estranged wife was “phoney.”
“She’s a great person and mom,” Tarek El Moussa wrote. “We have had many struggles, that’s all.”

Tarek El Moussa also took to Facebook in August, where he labeled Christina as his wife and shared a photo of the two of them working together. However, despite the united front they’ve kept both online and on their HGTV house-flipping series, Flip or Flop, Tarek El Moussa and his wife have been split since May.
As for why they parted ways, a People Magazine report on December 14 suggested that the couple’s time filming their series took a toll on their marriage.
Those who know Christina and Tarek El Moussa “could have seen this coming,” a source told the magazine.
“Anyone who has spent a halfway decent amount of time with them could have seen this coming. In a lot of ways they just seemed wildly incompatible. She has champagne tastes and he’s a beer-from-a-can kind of guy. And that was okay for a while when all they could afford was canned beer — they were on the same page, working together to make it and to do the best with what they had. But the stardom from the show, and the money from the show, meant that she started to feel like she could finally have some of the finer things in life,” the insider said.
“The more she started to sparkle and shine, the more he sort of regressed,” continued the insider. “He just didn’t or doesn’t seem to love it the way she does — he’s more awkward on camera, he doesn’t love public speaking the same way, he wants to be a dude at home who has this day job which means going on TV, whereas she really loves being more a celebrity.”
According to the report, being on a show is a performance, to a point, and while Christina was said to be “fine” with the idea, Tarek El Moussa was more reluctant and less willing to act for the show. In addition, said the source, Tarek allegedly felt like their time on Flip or Flop has been “a lie.”

Tarek El Moussa was so sick of the ongoing theme of his wife being deemed as the “right” one while he was always “in the wrong,” the insider claimed. As fans have seen on the show, Tarek El Moussa often shot down his wife’s ideas, but, later on in the episodes after she decided to pursue her ideas, it would frequently be revealed that she was right about her decisions.
“She’s always got the right design idea, or the right take on how much to spend, and he disagrees and then reluctantly gives in and then in the end he gives her credit for having been right about the decisions she insisted upon,” explained the insider.
