David Caruso and his gang of crime solving forensics detectives have been axed by CBS. The network announced on Sunday that the once popular CSI: Miami was being cancelled, marking the first of the CSI series to be removed since the first CSI show began shooting in 2000.
Premiering in 2002 the CSI: Miami series was cut during a time when CSI has been revamping, this past season Ted Danson joined the cast of CSI while CSI: NY is expected to return for another season.
In a statement regarding the cancellation of CSI: Miami the network said:
“’CSI: Miami’ leaves an amazing television legacy — a signature look and style, global popularity and as a key player in CBS’s rise to the top over the past decade. We thank all the producers — led by Jerry Bruckheimer, Jonathan Littman and Ann Donahue — and its talented cast, led by David Caruso, for 10 outstanding seasons. Viewers around the world will continue to enjoy rebroadcasts of ’CSI: Miami’ in syndication and on key digital platforms for many years to come.”
CSI: Miami wasn’t the only show to be cancelled on Sunday as CBS also announced the end of A Gifted Man starring Patrick Wilson. It was Wilson who announced the cancellation, tweeting:
“So…shocking to no one: _#agiftedman is done. Found out via email…and not from the network. Stay classy. Thanks to AGM fans! … but now that it’s ”official,“ I couldn’t be happier. As good as it was (sometimes) it was not what I signed on for.”
Also cancelled were the shows Unfortgettable, Rob and NYC 22 .
