Calvin Harris and Taylor Swift , despite being boyfriend and girlfriend, will never work together. Swift’s DJ/producer boyfriend confirmed the news in an interview with Nick Grimshaw on Radio 1’s Breakfast Show , the BBC reports. But the admission from Harris doesn’t mean there’s trouble in paradise for the young couple. The unlikeliness of them working together has more to do with the fact that Taylor Swift won’t be making any new music anytime soon.

“We haven’t even spoken about it,” the Scottish DJ said. “But I can’t see it happening. She is about to take a long break.”
According to Billboard.com , this is all going according to a plan Taylor Swift set even before she completed her 1989 tour last year. In her cover story interview for NME in 2015, Swift admitted as much .
“I think I should take some time off,” she said. “I think people might need a break from me. I’m going to … I don’t know. Hang out with my friends. Write new music. Maybe not write new music. I don’t know.”

During that interview, Swift also expressed some concern that her next album may not be able to top the success that she had with 1989 .
“How could the next one be as big?” she asked rhetorically. “Maybe the next album will be a bridge to somewhere else. Or maybe I’ll just go ahead and change everything.”
Entertainment Tonight reports that although the may never collaborate on a track together, Calvin Harris confessed that they are both very supportive of each other’s careers.
“She’s fantastic! She knows when it’s time to leave me for a bit on my own. Before the show,” Harris said during the interview on Kiss FM. “She’s super encouraging and she kind of gets her vibe going with other people as well, you know. She can even cheer up my manager, which is an unbelievable feat! So it’s fantastic having her around.”
As their relationship blossoms, Harris also admitted that he’s developed a fondness for Nashville, Tennessee, which is Taylor Swift’s hometown.
“I’ve kind of got a soft spot for Nashville nowadays actually,” he said. “It’s a really kind of peaceful, friendly place and I’d never been there, like, until last year.”
While a Taylor Swift and Calvin Harris single may be off the cards, the 32-year-old DJ and music producer currently has his hands full promoting his new single with another pop princess, Rihanna. The song is called, “This Is What You Came For,” and it marks the first time Calvin Harris has collaborated with the Barbadian superstar on a track since the 2011 smash hit, “We Found Love.” “We Found Love” appeared on Rihanna’s sixth studio album, Talk That Talk, while it appeared on Calvin Harris’ 2012 LP, 18 months . Harris also co-produced another track on Talk That Talk, “Where Have You Been.”
Their new song has so far received lots of praise from critics. Jon Blistein, writing for Rolling Stone , called the song “addictive.”
” ‘This Is What You Came For’ taps into the pair’s tradition of arena-worthy EDM songs,” Bilstein writes. “The song’s delicate beat builds into a cinematic, house sound with Rihanna’s voice in a softer register than the belt she produced over Harris’ beats (like on “We Found Love”).”

“She has an iconic voice,” Calvin Harris said of Rihanna during an interview with On Air With Ryan Seacrest. “When you give her a certain type of song it’s just next level.”
According to the BBC, the song with Rihanna is just one of the pop collaborations Calvin Harris has been working on. There’s more in the pipeline, including a song with Ellie Goulding.
But Harris admitted that we’ll have to wait a while to hear the track with Goulding, as it’s still in its early stages.
“We have half a track, I don’t know about the half,” he said. “You know when you have half a track and you are not really sure how to make it a full track?”
