According to Us Weekly on May 7, an announcement was made that Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt will be playing husband and wife in the movie By the Sea . It has been 11 years since they were together in Mr. and Mrs. Smith as husband and wife. The real-life couple are heading back to the big screen to be in a role as husband and wife.

By the Sea will hit theaters on November 13, 2015 . That date is around the time films get noticed by the Academy Of Motion Pictures Arts And Sciences.

By the Sea was shot in the fall on the island of Malta. It is a drama-romance based in the mid-1970s in France. Former dancer Vanessa, played by Jolie, and her writer-husband Roland, played by Pitt, go through ups and downs while traveling the country together. It becomes clear pretty quickly that their marriage is in trouble.

The couple begins to come to terms with unresolved issues in their own lives by spending time with fellow travelers, including newlyweds Lea, played by Mélanie Laurent, and François, played by Melvil Poupaud.

Not only is Jolie starring in a leading role in the movie, but she also wrote and directed the film, according to The Hollywood Reporter . Pitt joins his wife in the production of the film. Jolie wrote the relationship drama several years ago that centers on a couple with issues who takes a vacation in a last-ditch effort to save the marriage.

“This is a story about a relationship derailed by loss, the tenacity of love, and the path to recovery and acceptance. It has been a privilege to explore these universal human experiences with such a generous and talented cast and crew.”

Universal Pictures chairman Donna Langley said Universal is honored to market and distribute the film to audiences around the world.

“Angie and Brad have created an intimate gem of a film that will surprise people and deliver an experience they might not expect from them.”

Jolie, 39, and Pitt, 51, last appeared together in the 2005 film Mr. and Mrs. Smith . They co-starred as a couple, which they will do in By the Sea . They were not married in real life when they filmed Mr. and Mrs. Smith . In fact, at that time, Brad Pitt was married to Jennifer Aniston.

By the Sea is the third movie that Jolie has directed. The other movies include In the Land of Blood and Honey and Unbroken . Are you looking forward to seeing Brad and Angelina acting together again as husband and wife?
