The 28-day marriage between WNBA players Brittney Griner and Glory Johnson has come to a dramatic end. Turns out, the wedding was a huge mistake.
“Last Wednesday, Glory and I agreed to either legally separate, get divorced, or annul our marriage,” Griner said in a statement, US Weekly reported. “In the week prior to the wedding, I attempted to postpone the wedding several times until I completed counseling, but I still went through with it. I now realize that was a mistake.”
Brittney is the one filing for an annulment, citing “ fraud and duress ,” Out Magazine reported. She has claimed that Johnson “pressured (her) into marriage” with “threatening statements.” She was also apparently shocked when her new spouse announced on Instagram that she was pregnant .
“Prior to us getting married, I knew I didn’t want to. I shouldn’t have went through with it. You know, sometimes you feel pressured into things, and I went along with it. And I know I shouldn’t have. It was a huge mistake. I just knew it was a mistake.”
According to TMZ , it wasn’t exactly the announcement itself that proved shocking, it was when she chose to do so. She is less than a month pregnant .
“It’s very early. It’s too early to post or say anything about it.”
The filing states she has no biological connection to the child. According to the Latin Post , Glory became pregnant through in-vitro with donated sperm. She plans to keep the baby and raise it with or without her soon-to-be ex.

And Griner hasn’t revealed much else about the child as far as her planned involvement, emotional or financial. However, she told the world her union with Johnson was a mistake only a day after the news, People added.
Trouble preceded the nuptials. Shortly before the couple traded vows, police responded to a domestic incident between them. The fight got so bad, Glory’s sister Judy told police “We couldn’t get them pulled apart.” Both were charged with disorderly conduct. Griner pleaded guilty and agreed to undergo domestic violence counseling, but claimed she was the victim.
As for Brittney’s new wife, she told ESPN that she’s “hurt and blindsided” by the filing, but “loves Brittney and made a huge sacrifice to carry a child, put her career on hold, invest in their relationship and their future.”
The women play on separate teams–Brittney for Phoenix Mercury and Johnson for Tulsa Shock. Right before she publicized her pregnancy, Shock tweeted she wouldn’t be around for the upcoming season. Thanks to their arrests, both women were suspended for seven games.
When the drama is all over, Griner said she plans to immerse herself in basketball.
