Did you catch last night’s Blue moon , at its peak in the sky of 9:45 PM EST?
If you weren’t aware a Blue moon was set to occur on August 20, 2013, we have some bad news.
True to its name, the Blue moon seen last night is rare… and the next won’t be visible in the skies until July. Of 2015.
Luckily, we live in an era in which not only astronomical events are always chattered about, but plenty of pics show up on social sites after something pretty happens in the sky.
According to SPACE.com, photographer Victor Rogus says the Blue moon was stunning… but that the mid-summer mosquito swarms made it a less easy to appreciate sight.
He still snapped the majestic moon, adding :
“This evening I battled hordes of mosquitoes to capture as perfectly timed a ‘Blue Moon’ as I possibly could. I used an atomic clock to be as precise as possible in this endeavor… [It was a] beautiful, romantic sight, despite the invading hordes of insects, but I caught a nice image.”
