On Thursday evening, Bill O’Reilly talked about President Obama’s town hall meeting with CNN , and had a lot to say.
“There are just 40 days left before Barack Obama becomes a lame-duck president,” O’Reilly pointed out right before noting that Obama participated in the town hall with “friendly folks.”
O’Reilly then showed a video where Obama discusses why he doesn’t say the words “Islamic terrorism.”
“I learned from listening to some of these Muslim families both in the United States and overseas is that when you start calling these organizations ‘Islamic terrorists,’ the way it’s heard by our friends and allies around the world is that sometimes Islam is terrorist,” Obama told the audience before adding that innocent Muslims feel under attack.
O’Reilly then accused Obama of having a naïve view of the world. First, O’Reilly did point out that most Muslims aren’t violent people. However, he added that many Muslim nations heavily contribute to terrorism. He used Iran, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Africa as examples of countries that give Muslim terrorists free reign.
“The jihad – it is a well-financed, well-organized movement that has gained support among a significant number of Muslims worldwide. By being soft on the jihad, President Obama has allowed ISIS and other groups to gain strength,” Bill continued, noting that some young Muslims believe the jihad is winning because it has not been crushed as it should have been.
The Huffington Post has defended Obama’s decision while aiming criticism towards Donald Trump.
“Trump’s insistence that anyone who follows Islam? a religion of 1.6 billion people ? has the potential to be a terrorist isn’t just inaccurate; it’s dangerous. New research shows that politicians’ hateful rhetoric can directly contribute to a rise in hate crimes.”
The article adds that Obama has long tried to break the link between ISIS and Islam by referring to terrorist groups as “thugs” or “violent extremists.”
On his show, Bill O’Reilly repeated that he understands Obama is sympathetic to the peaceful Muslim world, which isn’t a bad thing. However, he also believes that any rational Muslim is not going to take offense at the words “Islamic Terrorism.”
O’Reilly noted that when he was in France this past summer, he saw the hate against Muslims and believed that a lot of it wasn’t rational. Mr. O’Reilly tried to be as objective as possible when discussing the issue. He was a little bit more angry when discussing Obama’s comments about those who disrespect the United States by refusing to stand during the national anthem.
Bill O’Reilly noted that there are a number of people who think our country is unfair to blacks and other minorities. He brought up Colin Kaepernick and others who are “disrespecting” our country. Then, he showed a video of Obama addressing the situation.
“I want Mr. Kaepernick and others on their knee to listen to the pain that this may cause somebody who had a spouse or a child that was killed in combat and why it hurts them to see these players not standing. But I also want people to think about the pain that he [Kaepernick] may be expressing about somebody who has lost a love one that was unfairly shot,” Obama says in the video.
Needless to say, Bill O’Reilly did not approve; he thought Obama was putting forth a false equivalence. O’Reilly thinks the overall nobility of America far outweighs individual police shootings. Do you agree with Bill O’Reilly? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section.
