Beyonce is the latest subject of a Bad Lip Reading, the viral internet videos that offer an alternative take on what people could be saying.
Bad Lip Reading videos have been around for a while now, with videos on the site’s YouTube channel for movies like Twilight and various music videos. But the Bad Lip Reading videos really took off a few weeks ago when they featured an interpretation of NFL sideline videos.
The NFL Bad Lip Reading highlighted Tom Brady praising his teammates (and his race), Seahawks coach Pete Carroll warning about the dangers of heroin, and a referee recounting an odd encounter on a day. Within a few days of being posted the video went viral, being highlighted on a number of blogs and racking up millions of views on YouTube.
The Beyonce Bad Lip Reading has taken off just as quickly, with outlets like the Fox Sacramento affiliate picking up on it.
The video features the now-controversial star spangled banner performance from President Obama’s inauguration. After initial reports that Beyonce lip-synced the national anthem blew up into a full-fledged scandal — with celebrities and singers like Aretha Franklin and Mike Doughty taking sides — it created the perfect opening for a parody.
The Beyonce Bad Lip Reading does just that. Featuring lyrics like “My dog, you can’t see him. Put your mouth next to me. All night, I scratched your pig” (via Mashable ), the song features faux-Beyonce power singing.
Here is the video for the Beyonce Bad Lip Reading, titled “La Fway”:
