For one day, Ben Affleck will only be able to spend $1.50.
The Oscar winner has signed up for the “Below The Line” project which is aimed at raising awareness about global poverty.
According to the website, Affleck will live on $1.50 a day for five days. Other celebrities like Josh Groban, Debi Mazar, Sophia Bush and Hunter Biden have also signed up for the challenge.
The website reads: “Live Below the Line is an initiative of the Global Poverty Project, an education and campaigning organization whose mission is to increase the number and effectiveness of people taking action against extreme poverty… The challenge? Spend 5 days feeding yourself with $1.50 a day – the U.S. equivalent of the extreme poverty line.”
Do you think it would be difficult to live off of $1.50 a day? The challenge isn’t limited to celebrities so check out the Live Below the Line challenge here. If you don’t want to participate in the challenge you can still donate to the cause. According to Michael Trainer, U.S. Country Director of The Global Poverty Project, the Live Below the Line challenge brought in more than $3 million last year.
Trainer said: “Last year we had over 15,000 people participate, and raised over $3 million. We’re excited to leverage the support The Global Poverty Project has received from the campaign last year, and the Global Citizen Festival in Central Park.”
1.4 billion people live on less than $1.50/day. I’m joining Live #BelowTheLine on behalf of @ easterncongo . Will you? bit.ly/15MbxD4
