“Batman” Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner haven’t had a superhero-style year together. But when it comes to playing the “Best Dad” card, Ben wins hands down, says his ex, Jennifer. The praise for Affleck from Garner came after the actor donned his superhero costume for his son’s birthday party, reported People.
At 4, their son, Sam, was thrilled when his superhero-themed birthday bash provided the ultimate excitement by showcasing daddy Ben dressed up in full Batman gear from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
“We all dressed up, I dressed up as a ninja and Ben dressed up as Batman for Sam,” revealed Jennifer. “[It] was the best dad moment in history.”
As for how Sam feels about having a father who is Batman, Garner shared the little boy’s delight.
“He kind of is losing it, it’s really sweet,” she proclaimed.
But since the news broke that they were splitting, life has had its share of not-so-sweet moments for the couple. In a Vanity Fair interview, Jennifer dished the details about their breakup.
However, in public with their children at a recent dinner in Santa Monica, all seemed amicable between Ben and his ex, an insider told People.
“Jen and Ben seemed fine, you would never think that they are divorcing,” revealed the insider. “They had a fun dinner with their kids and were both laughing a lot.”
The two also encountered each other at the Oscars.
“They had a nice moment where they caught up and a lot of their friends were there – and they chatted and then they left,” noted a source.
But although in public they’re staying positive, what’s happening behind the scenes, especially following some of the bombshells that Garner dropped about Affleck in her recent Vanity Fair interview? As rumors swirl that Ben will conduct his own revenge interview, an insider cited by She Knows revealed how Affleck really feels.
In that now-infamous interview, Jennifer shared some shockers about her relationship with Ben. She did not attempt to contradict the reports that Affleck hooked up with the family nanny, and even confessed that he has horrific bad moods. Garner also described his new tattoo as absurd. So, how did Ben feel about all this?
“[Affleck] knew Jen had done the interview with Vanity Fair,” said the insider. “But he was shocked about how in-depth Jen got. Just mentioning the nanny irritated Ben.”
But will Affleck fire back with his own revengeful comments?
“Don’t expect Ben to do a sit-down tell-all,” added the insider. “He has made it clear… he won’t be discussing the breakdown of the marriage.”
As to why the divorce isn’t finalized? No prenuptial agreement existed, according to that same source.
“The divorce talks are continuing. The finances are complicated because there was no prenup,” explained the source.
In her interview, Garner revealed the highs and lows of life with Affleck, reported ABC News.
Married for 10 years and revealing the rift in their relationship with their June, 2015, breakup, the couple had a relationship that was real rather than based on the image of Ben the movie star, emphasized Jennifer.
“I didn’t marry the big fat movie star; I married him. And I would go back and remake that decision. I ran down the beach to him, and I would again… He’s the most brilliant person in any room, the most charismatic, the most generous… I always say, ‘When his sun shines on you, you feel it.’ But when the sun is shining elsewhere, it’s cold. He can cast quite a shadow.”
However, it’s the movie star that fans will view when Affleck dons his Caped Crusader costume for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which soars into release March 25.
As to whether another Batman film starring Ben is in the works? Affleck did reveal that a Batman -focused film is being considered, reported EW. And he didn’t rule out taking the lead role.
“It’s in development, and right now I’m really focused on finishing Live By Night,” said Ben. “That’s where my focus is, and I tend to be a one movie at a time guy. So, when I’m finished with this movie, I’ll then focus on my next movie and figure out what that will be.”
