The long-expected sequel to last year’s Batman: Arkham Asylum has been revealed as Batman: Arkham City .
Batman: Arkham Asylum was possibly the best superhero game ever, and developer Rocksteady Studios will be aiming to repeat the trick with Arkham City , which is due to be released in Fall 2011 for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
News of the sequel was broken by a teaser from games mag Game Informer , which also confirmed the presence of Catwoman in the game. A press release has since landed in my inbox, explaining the following:
“ Batman: Arkham City builds upon the intense, atmospheric foundation of Batman: Arkham Asylum , sending players soaring into Arkham City, the new maximum security ‘home’ for all of Gotham City’s thugs, gangsters and insane criminal masterminds.
“Set inside the heavily fortified walls of a sprawling district in the heart of Gotham City, this highly anticipated sequel introduces a brand-new story that draws together a new all-star cast of classic characters and murderous villains from the Batman universe, as well as a vast range of new and enhanced gameplay features to deliver the ultimate experience as the Dark Knight.”
Also worth mentioning: the next issue of Game Informer will be offered with a couple of sweet alternative covers, one of which features Catwoman. Go here to see them in full hi-res:
