A good many critics were singing the praises of Supergiant Games’ digital treat, Bastion , when it launched back in July of this year, but how many people actually bought it? As it turns out, quite a lot.
Supergiant Games announced today that in the roughly five months since its release, Bastion has sold a respectable 500,000 copies. Considering that Bastion was the product of an indie developer and it only saw a digital release, I’d say that’s quite impressive.
“We’re happy to have this many people playing and to be in a position to make more games on our own terms,” said Bastion creative director Greg Kasavin. “When we set out to make Bastion , a sales number like that seemed astronomical to us, so it feels great to have hit that mark. It goes to show that a lot of folks out there like what we’re doing and want us to keep going, which is great, because we intend to stick together as a team and do just that.”
Bastion is easily one of the greatest digital titles of the year, if not the greatest, so it’s nice to see that it got – and hopefully will continue to get – the recognition from gamers that it deserves.
