South Carolina parents are facing criminal charges after allegedly forcing their 14-year-old daughter to sleep in a wild-hog infested woods because she ate a pop tart without their permission.
Huffington Post reported that 33-year-old James Allen Driggers and his wife Crystal Lynn of Dalzell kicked their daughter out of their home as punishment after they caught her eating the offending pop tart.

According to authorities, the couple told their daughter to set up a tent in a nearby woods – which is known to be the home of wild hogs – after providing her with one roll of toilet paper, a flashlight, a whistle, and a watch.
Police also reported that if she wanted anything to eat, her parents informed her there would be someone at the fence of their home at specific times during the day, prepared to give her food. However, her brother was kind enough to sneak her cold spaghetti in cans to ensure she got enough to eat. The teen girl was allegedly ordered to live in woods for one week, but she was only there for two days, including during the storm that hit South Carolina on Thursday.
Local deputies reported that when her grandmother discovered the teen had been kicked out of her home for eating a pop tart, she took her to her own house before calling the police on Thursday.

The girl was returned home to her parents the following day, but her parents were allegedly still adamant about her one-week punishment. They kicked her out again and forced her to fend for herself, according to NBC News .
The couple’s alleged bad parenting led to Sumter County police officials placing them under arrest on charges of neglect.
The couple has five children together; four of whom were taken to their grandmother’s house after their parents’ arrest. The teen who was kicked out of the home was in the care of social services.
Police spokesman Braden Bunch said, “She couldn’t return for any reason. Not to get a drink, not to use the bathroom, nothing. We feel very confident that the parents were overstepping their bounds from trying to correct a child’s behavior to true criminal punishment.”
Both parents were charged with a single count of unlawful neglect of a child. However, it has been reported that the couple could face more charges as the investigation proceeds.
