AT&T May Charge For Bandwidth

Another major internet provider is looking at setting rates based at least partially on bandwidth.

AT&T told the Associated Press it’s considering fees for users with “abnormally high usage patterns.” No specific definition was given for “abnormally high.” The spokesperson did say, however, that no definite plans have been formalized.

Metered rates seem to be a hot topic lately. Time Warner Cable is trying out a bandwidth cap system in certain cities. Comcast has also been looking at the idea for some time, and Verizon already has data-driven plans in place for its mobile broadband users.
