Ariana Grande Nearly Breaks Down on Red Carpet at 56th Annual Grammys

Former Nickelodeon child actress turned teen pop star, Ariana Grande, made headlines at the 2014 Grammy Awards, not for her amazing ensemble, but rather for her very public breakdown on the red carpet. On January 26, while posing for pictures on the red carpet in front of floods of paparazzi, Grande became overwhelmed by all of the commands being shouted at her. As the photographers barked orders at Grande, she got flustered. An eye witness and fan took to Twitter to defend Grande and explained what she witnessed when she wrote, “she made one mistake by moving left a bit too quick and when she tried to move back she tripped.”
As an established actress and a pop star, many are stunned that Grande was not able to compose herself as photographers were taking shots and shouting commands. According to a source close to Grande, the actual cause of her breakdown was what happened prior to her walking the red carpet. As a young star, Grande is still self-conscious when she walks the red carpet, and she made the mistake of turning to Twitter to find critiques of her $9000 Dolce and Gabbana dress and also her hairstyle by bloggers that upset her.
The source says, “This blogger attacked her dress but also went after her hair and then more people started piling on. It was just mean. Ariana was like, ‘Why am I even here?'” As an impressionable 20 year-old, seeing the string of nasty things that the blogger and many of this bloggers followers had to say just moments before stepping foot on the red carpet led to her over-sensitive reaction to the photos. Luckily, Grande’s handlers were close by to keep the situation under control so that it did not become headline news and a PR disaster.
No matter your age, the public and critics are never easy on you when you are a member of Hollywood. There will always be a fan that does not like your hair extensions, the dress you chose, your shoes, your accessories, or even your makeup. Grande is learning that you must have thick skin when you are in the spotlight, but she is still human and the criticism can get to anyone. While the blogger was successful in being heard, most of Hollywood agrees that Ariana Grande looked amazing in her sophisticated black flowered dress and satin pink heels.
