Apple is offering a replacement program for customers with iPhone 6 Plus units that have faulty cameras. Some iPhone 6 Plus users have encountered an issue with their iPhone’s camera that causes photos to be blurry. Apple noted that the defective cameras only affect a small number of iPhone 6 Plus devices.
As CNN reported, those with an affected device can get their cameras repaired at an authorized service provider, Apple store, or send their phone to Apple for a swap.
“Affected customers can go to an authorized service provider, any Apple store, or contact technical support to set up a swap. The company noted wireless carriers are not able to fix the issue.”
Apple will replace the faulty camera for free as long as your phone is eligible. If your phone has been damaged beyond the camera, you’ll likely have to front the bill. Your phone most likely won’t be replaced unless you send it in using Apple technical support.
As Ars Technica mentioned, the replacement program will be available up to three years after you purchased your faulty iPhone. It should be noted that you have three years from the phone’s initial retail purchase, not a second-hand purchase.
“If your iPhone 6 Plus is producing blurry photos and falls into the eligible serial number range, Apple will replace your device’s iSight camera, free of charge.”
The problem camera is the back-facing one, the front-facing one is not part of this replacement program.
“Apple has determined that, in a small percentage of iPhone 6 Plus devices, the iSight camera has a component that may fail causing your photos to look blurry. The affected units fall into a limited serial number range and were sold primarily between September 2014 and January 2015.”

The iPhone 6 Plus camera issue has been well documented on Apple’s support forum. One thread on Apple’s support forum has over 100 replies. Most of the replies were fellow iPhone 6 Plus users with a defective camera. The problem, apparently, is that the camera refuses to focus.
Ironically, the iPhone 6 Plus is widely regarded as having the best camera of any current smartphone. When the Plus’s camera is working, it is capable of producing some pretty great images.
