Amy Schumer got candid about her medical issues and their impact on her life during a Dear Media event. She talked to the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast presenter, Amanda Hirsch, about her botched colonoscopy.

The conversation started with how she’s doing mentally. She said, “I’m feeling happier than ever before.” The actor split with her husband after seven years of marriage in January. Schumer seems to be projecting what many describe as a post-divorce glow-up. She has also lost significant weight, which made Hirsch ask her, “Does it have to do with being really hot?”

Schumer revealed, “I actually had kind of a botched colonoscopy.” The botched procedure has left her “’not feeling very sexual.” Schumer joked, “See, that’s another thing you’re not going to have to worry about for 15 years.” She did not go into much detail about the procedure and the reason behind it.

Usually, a colonoscopy is done to examine the large intestine. An endoscopic camera is inserted into the body to check the colon. The visuals from the camera help diagnose colon diseases. In serious cases, they can also detect colorectal cancer.

A patient is put on a special clear liquid diet to ensure the colonoscopy goes well. Some of the complications after the procedure may include bleeding due to tissue removal and injury to the colon walls.

Another one of Schumer’s health battles includes Cushing syndrome. Everyone asked about her new fit physique. When she lost weight, many people assumed she may have used Ozempic. She opened up about using the weight loss drug and why she had to stop using it.

While it made her lose weight, it also impacted her energy levels. She also suffered from other side effects like extreme fatigue and nausea. Schumer also revealed that she has a genetic marker that led to such side effects from the drug.

Apart from dealing with medication side effects and Cushing syndrome due to high cortisol levels, Schumer lost 50 pounds. She wrote in an Instagram caption, “I didn’t lose 30lbs, I lost 50. Not to look hot, which does feel fun and temporary. I did it to survive. I had a disease that makes your face extremely puffy and can kill you, but the internet caught it and that disease has cleared.”

Schumer used to have a puffy face and was overweight. Netizens figured out the symptoms before she realized. She revealed, “I was getting these steroid injections, and so it gave me this thing called Cushing syndrome, which I wouldn’t have known if the internet hadn’t come for me so hard. She revealed this on an episode of the “Call Her Daddy” podcast. Schumer added she found out she had “moon face,“ which helped with the diagnosis.
