Acer has ordered a bunch of NVIDIA Ion 2 processors for use in their nettops and netbooks which will be paired with the Intel Pine Trail Atom platform.
According to tipsters at DigiTimes the systems most likely to get the new setup include the Acer AspireRevo line and higher end Aspire Ones which tend to cater to heavy users who are willing to spend more money on state of the art systems.
Unlike typical processors with built-in memory controllers, the Ion 2 chipset is said to behave like a dedicated video chip, a fact that makes it run faster and which will unmarry NVIDIA’s chipset from Atom processors. [ Electronista ]
