Abby Wambach kissed wife Sarah Huffman to celebrate her team’s win over Japan at the World Cup. And that touching moment forever sealed the win in the memories of those who watched the triumph of the women’s soccer squad, reported CNN .

Social media was quick to react.

“Watching Abby Wambach kiss her wife after winning the World Cup on repeat. Look how far we’ve come. #LoveWins #USWNT,” posted Alex Goldschmidt, @alexandergold .

That 5-to-2 score made it clear that Abby and her teammates are among the top players in the women’s soccer history books. But beyond that, Wambach’s kiss reverberated.

Abby Wambach #20 of the United States kisses wife Sarah Huffman after the USA’s 5-2 victory against Japan in the FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015 Final at BC Place Stadium on July 5, 2015 in Vancouver, Canada.

Abby married Huffman in Hawaii in 2013. But now, with the U.S. Supreme Court’s gay marriage legalization, Wambach’s kiss became symbolic of that ruling on social media. The hashtag said it all: #LoveWins.

In addition, the 35-year-old revealed that the World Cup may be her final game, and last opportunity to take home the honor.

Abby was the 2012 FIFA World Player of the Year, and winner of two Olympic Gold medals. And when Wambach stepped onto the field, her name sounded from every corner of the stadium.

The final heart-warming moment of the event came when Carli Lloyd graciously handed off her captain’s armband to Abby.

Add in Wambach’s kiss, and it seemed like this team player, who’s earned a place in the history books by scoring the most international goals (183), had it all.

However, that win sealed with a kiss may signal Abby’s last public appearance before retirement, reported Time .

Wambach previously was candid about risking herself physically and emotionally to achieve her goal.

“It’s like love,” mused Abby.

Twitter was especially delighted with the combination of Wambach’s kiss and her win.

“Abby Wambach celebrating with her wife is my real #RelationshipGoals.”

“Wambach making out with her WIFE was the best part of my entire day!”

“ABBY WAMBACH KISSING HER WIFE, A UNION NOW RECOGNIZED THROUGHOUT THE USA, IS A PRETTY NICE ENDING TO THIS WORLD CUP “

As the Inquisitr reported, the U.S. Supreme Court’s legalization of LGBT marriage has been cheered in numerous ways, but perhaps the most tasty is Ben & Jerry’s decision to rename their famous cookie dough ice cream, I Dough I Dough.

“Ben & Jerry’s is proud of the Supreme Court’s landmark decision against discrimination as it boldly stands up for equality for same sex couples everywhere,” said Jostein Solheim, the ice cream company CEO.
